Burek Duo

Burek duo consists of oud player Andreas Krambias from Cyprus and cellist Maria Doumeni Cronholm from Sweden, with roots in Greece.

The duo met in Thessaloniki in 2019, where their collaboration first started. Their unique combination of instruments creates a distinctive soundscape which is both lyrical and playful. With the melody in focus they create colourful arrangements which are framed by improvisation and intuitive interplay.

The duo makes the most of both musicians' different musical backgrounds - this comes across not only in their choice of repertoire but also in the character they give to the music.

Burek Duo play folk music from Greece, Cyprus and Sweden, as well as Ottoman classical music.

In the same areas as the music originates you can also find the pastry Burek. It varies widely in style and seasoning, just like Burek Duo’s music.”

Burek duo has performed in festivals and concerts in Sweden and Cyprus.

In 2021 Burek duo released its first album "ISKIOS" which is an independent production.

Alasia trio

"Alasia" is a Cypriot folk music group consisting of Christos Isidorou, Kyriakos Markoullis and Andreas Krabias. The aim of this trio is to study the musical tradition of the island and highlight the richness of its melodies, rhythms and lyrics. Its name is inspired by a pre-Homeric reference to the island as "Alasia".

"Alasia" combines instruments known in Cyprus, such as the pithkiavlin (shepherd's flute) and the lute, but also unknown ones, such as the oud and the lafta. What makes "Alasia" special is the performance of Cypriot songs and tunes without the preeminent solo instrument of this tradition, the violin.

POMÅNA

POMÅNA is a folk music band based in Sweden, consisting of Alma Weiser (SE) on vocals and accordion, Nora Mauritzson (SE) on percussion and vocals and Andreas Krambias (CY) on bouzouki, laouto and oud. They met 2022 at the Academy of Music and Drama in Gothenburg, where they currently are studying a bachelor in world music. Together they explore the boarders of traditional music from Sweden and Greece, creating new expressive arrangements. In the exchange of cultures, they have found a new fresh sound, a playful mix of groovy rhythms and beautiful melodies.
